Our Leadership Team.
James Thompson

James Thompson was appointed Chief Executive Officer in April 2017. Mr. Thompson joined HaloSource in August 2004 as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Thompson was appointed General Manager - Americas in July 2012. Mr. Thompson also served as Senior Vice President Business Development from January 2012 to July 2012. Prior to joining HaloSource, Mr. Thompson was a principal with Alexander Hutton Venture Partners, LP, a regional venture capital firm investing in emerging growth companies, and formerly an associate with Alexander Hutton Capital, LLC where he raised capital for technology start-ups in the Pacific Northwest of the US. Prior to business school, he was a securities analyst with Security Capital Group and began his career as a credit analyst for Continental Illinois National Bank. Mr. Thompson has a BA from Gonzaga University and an MBA from the University of Washington.

Craig Crowell

Craig Crowell was appointed Chief Financial Officer in July 2016. Mr. Crowell joined HaloSource in December 2013. Prior to joining HaloSource, Mr. Crowell was the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Secretary for Timberline Resources Corporation, a mineral exploration company, where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, regulatory compliance, financial policies and controls of the company and its subsidiaries in the US, Canada and Mexico. Mr. Crowell has extensive experience with publicly listed companies in the energy and forest products industries. Mr. Crowell began his career with Price Waterhouse in Calgary, Alberta. Mr. Crowell is a CPA (Illinois) and Chartered Accountant (Alberta) and graduated from the University of Alberta, Canada.

Greg Lafata

Greg LaFata joined the HaloSource marketing team in 2014, serving as a Sr. Product Manager for the SeaKlear line of products.  Over the last 2+ years, Greg assumed leadership of the global category marketing team and now serves as the Sr. Director of Category Marketing and Communications.  Prior to joining HaloSource, he spent 9+ years in consumer packaged goods, working in marketing and market research roles at both Procter & Gamble and Philips Oral Health Care.  Greg began his career in operations, serving as a liquid flavors production supervisor at Firmenich, after spending 6 years in the United States Army as a field artillery officer. Greg is a 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and also earned an MBA in Marketing from Seattle University in 2011.

Martin Coles

Martin Coles joined HaloSource as a member of the board in July 2011 and was appointed president and chief executive officer in October 2011. He resigned as president and chief executive officer in April 2017, remaining as a strategic adviser to the company. Prior to joining HaloSource, he held the positions of chief operating officer and later president of Starbucks Coffee International. His career also includes 35 years of serving in a variety of senior executive and board positions at Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, Nike and Reebok. He also served as a non-executive director at Levi Strauss. Mr. Coles began his career at Procter & Gamble UK in 1977 as a graduate-entry production manager. He currently serves on the not-for-profit International Education Advisory Boards of the University of Washington Business School at Bothell, previously serving as chairman of the UW Foster Business School Advisory Board and Seattle University, where he is a fellow of the Albers Business School. He is a graduate of the University of Wales at Swansea, where he received a BSc in Biochemistry.
